what do I need to begin?
At a minimum a pair of running shoes, a bike ( any bike ), a bathing suit, workout clothes, and access to a pool or lake
Can I train indoors?
Some of the training may be done indoors with the proper equipment but outdoor training and indoor training are two different monsters. A treadmill, for example, moves underneath your feet where as running on the road requires you to overcome gravity and push off the off the ground. This requires more muscles to be recruited as well as the ability to sustain a higher impact during foot strike.
How does online coaching work?
Online coaching is a remote alternative to traditional coaching that takes place over the internet. Every week on predetermined day and time we will set up a conference via phone, video conference , email, etc. and discuss how the workouts went the previous week as well as discuss your schedule for the upcoming week. Your workouts will be delivered through an online training platform TrainingPeaks, that will easily sync to a smart watch. The watch will automatically upload data to TrainingPeaks that I can examine and give feedback during our weekly conference. The online platform also saves your workouts making it easier to see progress
What if something comes up and I can’t complete my whole workout or can’t do it at all?
We’re parents. Something ALWAYS comes up, that’s why I’m here. Just shoot me a text or an email and I can either modify the work out for that day or modify the some of the workouts in the upcoming days. I don’t want you to double up on workouts just because you missed something. Truth as busy parents I expect you to miss a workout here and there.
Do you train people for full Ironmans, marathons or ultra distance events?
No. Not to say that I wouldn't but my main goal is to help time starved parents and athletes achieve their athletic goals. Most of us parents have limited hours a week to dedicate to swim, bike, or run training. Most parents out there I find do not have the time to train for distances above a sprint , Olympic, and 70.3 triathlon or 5k, 10k and half marathons.
